ELLIE HARRISON
Ellie Harrison of BBC Countryfile who visited Porlock Bay Oysters

West Country Blacksmiths were proud to support the Porlock Bay Oysters project by designing and fabricating large quantities of oyster tables.

Porlock Bay Oysters was the creation of the Porlocks Futures Group. The aim was to look to create a sustainable industry in the local area. The idea of resurrecting the Oyster industry lost in Porlock for centuries was formed.

From this small seed Porlock Bay Oysters have grown in to a fully operational company producing ‘A’ grade quality oysters on-sale in deli’s and restaurants locally and online to order.

The project was so unique that it was even featured on the ever popular BBC Countryfile program where presenter Ellie Harrison visited the Oyster Farm and tried some of the local delicacy.

With Porlock being the neighbouring village to Allerford, West Country Blacksmiths were proud to be asked to design, fabricate and install large quantities of Oyster tables. The tables are made from rebar steel and placed deep into the bay on the lowest spring tide and and kept in position by rebar pegs made by the Blacksmith.
