West Country Blacksmiths are an award winning team of highly talented, creative and ambitious craftsmen lead by brothers Kyle & Kieren Roberts.

The team were formed in 2013 following the unexpected closure of the blacksmiths forge where Kyle and other craftsmen were working. The brother joined to form the company now known as West Country Blacksmiths, reopening Allerford Forge with the assistance of the landlords The National Trust. The forge is a truly beautiful and characterful forge set in the heart of the Holnicote Estate on the Edge of Exmoor in Somerset.

The vision for the company was to build a company known for offering an excellent service for the local community and continue to offer the traditional ‘blacksmith down the road service’ which the forged has offered for centuries, whilst also designing and producing the finest quality bespoke metalwork for clients nationwide.

The team work on all types of metalwork projects and offer a huge range of services which includes the bespoke design and production of artistic and decorative metalwork alongside simpler and more practical metalwork to suit all budgets. No matter the project type and size, our attention to every small detail and the quality of our work is consistent, which comes from the professional pride and passion of true craftsmen.

This skill, creativity, passion and pride in their work has lead the team to receive multiple awards and media interest in the work they produce. The pinnacle of which being the blacksmiths winning the Architects Journals staircase of the year 2019 for a bespoke project completed in the Isle of Mann.

The team have worked tirelessly to build a large and wide ranging portfolio of work with projects that include the Kensington Palace regeneration project where the team made and installed estate railings and undertook restoration work on the historic railings, Designing and making estate style fencing for the Pencarrow Estate, Cornwall and designing and making the lord Mayors 800th anniversary commemorative bench at the Mansion House, Clifton.

Our vision for the future is to continue to build our reputation and portfolio of work. We want to produce quality and timeless metalwork with limitless possibilities. We want to continue to produce work that both us and our clients can be proud of.
