A bespoke estate gates and railings project completed for a private estate in Porlock, Somerset.

West Country Blacksmiths bespoke made three pairs of gates, two pedestrian gates and a large quantity of estate railings. The metalwork is treat with by hot-dip galvanising to offer the very best possible rust protection and finished by antique acid treating the metalwork.

The gate and railing were designed to be  of high quality, long lasting, practical and meet the approved by the local national park authority.

The gates are hung on solid oak posts and house a code operated locking system which can be operated from either-side of the gates.

The estate railing is designed to a traditional stile with five horizontal bars, but with the addition of two 19 strand high tensile galvanised rope wire to ensure retention of stock and look decorative. Unlike other estate railing project, the estate railing have been made in panel with each panel bespoke made to suit the gradient of the ground and are curved to enable the railing to be fitted with no need to damaged the galvanised protective finish.

This project was a finalist in the 2019 GAGA Construction awards in the category of design. Iqbal Johal, one of 4 judges of the GAGA Awards said ’We received a record number of nominations this year and the 2019 GAGAs has an impressive shortlist.
